Ode To Enchanted Light by Pablo Neruda

oooowaterfallUnder the trees light
has dropped from the top of the sky,
like a green
latticework of branches,
on every leaf,
drifting down like clean
white sand.

A cicada sends
its sawing song
high into the empty air.

The world is
a glass overflowing
with water.

My thoughts -

The description of the generous sunlight, artistically branched trees, with its healthy leaves gives a  distinctively bright picture of a spring season. All these give me an optimistic feel for the “possibilities” of good happenings around us. The cicada too like the poet, enjoys the moment and shares its joy by singing the song at its best. I truly feel so overwhelmed with excitement and awe for that day, I loved – the way he charmingly concluded with an inspiring metaphor “The world is a glass overflowing with water”, every time I read the last line, I am reminded how bountiful our nature is.
